Kim Maree (BFA, Dip Transpersonal Art Therapy, Cert IV TAA)
In truly answering this question it would be a much deeper discussion but for the purposes of knowing more about me in a therapeutic sense I have provided you with a brief description of my approach and training…
Approach
Art therapy is an embodied psychotherapy which tunes into the felt sense within the body and the knowledge that comes from a place beyond the chatter in the head.
Talking and actually being heard definitely have their place and at times are vital but there are also other times where we can talk until the cows come home and they generally don’t.
That’s where art therapy can come into play as it bypasses our talking mechanisms and enables us to access more of ourselves and expand our options to move forward.
Education
After completing a year of study in fine arts I moved to Sydney to study at the National Art School. I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in ceramics.
I then went on to complete the Certificate IV in Training and assessment and also completed a Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy.
I have also had a lifetime commitment to my own journey of healing and growth, which has included ongoing study within the field of psychology.
