What is art therapy?
Art therapy uses the creative process of making art, to help express thoughts and feelings that are difficult to put into words.
It enhances the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being of individuals of all ages.
Art therapy encourages motivation, spontaneity, creativity, choice, self-esteem and self-awareness.
Do you have to be good at art?
You do not need to be good at it, or have any art skill. People with any level of interest in art, or in the process of creating and making interesting objects can use art therapy.
It is not about making ‘good’ art - the emphasis is on creating something that is a personal expression.
